is the John Antony Weir Professor of History at Rice University. She is the author of The Language of Human Rights in West Germany (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2013) and co-editor of the Routledge History of Human Rights (Routledge, 2020), among other projects and publications, and has taught the history of human rights since the late 1990s. Currently she is Director of the Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality at Rice.
